A. What’s a Snowbird? (Introduction)

A snowbird is the phrase used for people that go to warmer climates over the winter months to live in order to escape the harshness of their more northern climate. Often times, it tends to be retired folks that have the ability to spend several months in another location compared to the rest of the year. I wasn’t expecting to ever be a “snowbird”, but here I am. A retired empty nester, spending several months in Florida with my husband to wait out the winters of Colorado. It was my husband’s idea and to be honest. I wasn’t convinced I was ready for such a drastic life change. There was significant doubt and trepidation on my part. I said, “maybe a month or so to start”, my husband said, “let’s try at least 3 months to start and see how it goes”. We stayed four.
