E. What is “Island Time”? (Be Ready)

Originally, I thought it meant a slower pace, which isn’t wrong, but I think it is a bit more than that. People walk less a little less forcefully and hurried, things may break and stay broken a little longer, there are less deadlines and clock usage. Most people are just not in a huge hurry. This is all true. However, it is also about taking advantage of moments of opportunity when you see it. It could be an opportunity stop and talk to a neighbor or it could be that you saw a maintenance person on the island and jump at that chance to make a repair. For us, there was a tree trimming company that came onto the island for one job and they ended up staying for a few months because people kept coming up to them begging them to go to their house next. We are one of many that made it on the list. We hadn’t really planned on removing and trimming trees yet, but there you go. You have to get when the getting is good, as the saying goes. So, with “Island Time” we may live at a little bit slower pace but we also are on the ready to jump at an opportunity.
How would you describe your current pace of life? How quickly can you change plans or direction? When is the last time you jumped at an opportunity that hadn’t been planned well in advance?
