How do you handle curve balls?

Am I the only one feeling like the year has just flown by? It seems like the older I get, the faster the time just zooms by. There is a sudden desire to document any and all accomplishments to prove the year has been worthwhile…as in…NOT wasted.
When I compare my life today to this time last year, a lot really has transpired but there is no one moment that supersedes any other moment. That’s the funny thing about time. It’s a series of small and seemingly insignificant moments that are what make up big life change.
For our family, this has been a year of post-hurricane repairs, multiple moves, and health struggles. None were a part of my life plan, but there we were. One curve ball after another. It made me pretty irritable, if I am being totally honest.
Each curve ball felt like a strike out, as each event was pulling me further away from how I thought things were supposed to go. This has been a year of learning how to let go of “my plans” and try to be a little more flexible. Curve balls are a part of the game, just as they are a part of life.
It’s good to have goals and plans but I need to hold on to them more loosely. I am learning of my need to realign myself to God’s plans more quickly going forward. The recognition that my plans are not always His plans is probably a good place to start.
Questions:
Do you ever get angry when thrown a curve ball?
How quickly do you typically adjust to the unexpected?
Does a change in plans ever feel like a failure?
Is there anything going on in your life right now that just isn’t going according to the “plan”?
Scripture
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55:8-9
