It's simple...or is it?

I discovered that my husband and I have very different versions of the term “simple”. That difference in perspective ended up creating some conflict for us recently. Neither one is wrong, but resolution only happened once we were able widen our perspective in order to accommodate each other’s viewpoint.
To me “simple” means quick, easy, and uncomplicated physically. For my husband, it means uncomplicated from a thought and planning perspective. We were packing up for a move and he would say that it was simple and I was getting irritated. In my mind, it wasn’t simple at all. It was exhausting and extremely time consuming and stressful. The opposite of simple. To him, it was simple because you either toss, donated or pack the items. Well…that’s true. It took a while, but we finally agreed that simple doesn’t necessarily mean easy.
How about you? What is your definition of simple?
Would you say that making a decision to follow Jesus is simple? Is it easy?
Scripture
“And he said to all, ‘If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it.’” Luke 9: 23-24
“Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.” Colossians 2:6-7
