Seasonal allergies

I am feeling miserable today. I tried allergy medicine, a shower, plus half a box of Kleenex and it’s only 9am. It’s not good for seasonal allergy sufferers this spring.

Typically, when something ails us – like allergy symptoms, we can pop a pill or simply wait it out. Worse case, we seek a medical professional and get treated. Either way, things tend to resolve themselves eventually.

However, it’s not just the physical that tends to ail us. It can just as easily be our heart that is hurting. That’s when things can get really tricky because when it comes to matters of the heart, those wounds tend to run deep and you can’t just wait those out. Those wounds are harder to understand than the physical and are hidden deep inside us for a reason. This kind of hurt, if not treated, doesn’t get better on its own and can cause more damage and pain in the future. It’s a scary proposition.

The good news is that God knows what ails us, even for the times when we can’t figure it out on our own. He knows what our hearts long for and what we need. God knows us way better than we will ever hope to know ourselves. He is doing a work in us and through us and He is inviting us to get on board. He sent his son to save us, to hold our hand. Therefore, we can feel safe to let our feelings flow to the surface so that we can address them without fear or shame. Jesus is the true and ultimate healer, even in our darkest moments. What a relief!

Do you ever find yourself thinking something isn’t quite right but not knowing what or why?

Are you ready, willing, and able to take the hand of Jesus to walk you through your woundedness?

Do you trust in Jesus as the ultimate healer? Do you believe he can renew you?

Scripture

Bless the LORD, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name! Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy, who satisfies you with good so you’re your youth is renewed like the eagle’s. Psalm 103: 1-5
