A few days ago, we went to pick up tile for a bathroom remodel.

It is a good thing we brought our bigger vehicle because it turns out that tile is really heavy! Each box only had about 6 tiles in it but I could hardly lift one box and we had 27 of them. The back of the car went further and further down as each box was loaded. The back tires began to smush, trying to handle the load. We prayed the tires would hold as we slowly drove the long way home.

Our burdens as well as the burdens of others have a way of weighing on us, as if we were that car. Scripture tells us that we are to take on one another’s burdens, but how do we do that without popping our tires? Health struggles of ourselves and/or loved ones, finances, "to do" lists, relationship struggles, fear of the future are just a few examples. We may be designed to take on the burdens, but we are also designed to lift those burdens up to Jesus. Scripture also tells us to cast our cares on to Him. When we can cast our burdens and of others onto Him, we are allowing the Spirit to work in the situation. Suddenly, we are given the words to say and actions to take or not to take in a given situation. When we let God work, we are showing our faith and trust in a God that works everything out in his timing.

Well, we made it home with the tiles unloaded, our car intact, and the tires back to normal. How would you rate your “tire pressure” right now?

“Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.” Galatians 6:2

“casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:7
