Weekly Reflection – The Ring Around

It is so infuriating to call a company and get the “ring around.”

You know what I mean. Dial 1 for customer service, 2 for billing, 3 for technical support, etc. You end up yelling at the phone, “Representative!!!” over and over until a human comes on the line. I nearly lost my mind last week trying to get a short-term dumpster from the trash company. I called the main line, only to get a voicemail to leave a message. It is a bad sign when a voicemail says not to leave multiple messages. So, I left one message and waited several days…nothing. I tried a random email contact form from their website and left another voice message (even though they said not to). Someone did call me back several days later but I have no idea which method of contact did the trick. They were to email me a form that I needed to sign before they sent the dumpster but I never got the form. So now I was back at the beginning, not knowing if the dumpster would be delivered. Long story short, after multiple calls and only two returned ones, I did get the dumpster delivered and was even able to get it picked back up again. I find it ironic how so much of my time is geared toward text and email but in reality, relationship-oriented interaction and conversation is still desperately needed.
These types of experiences make me so thankful for a God that not only hears us but is always with us. There is a direct connection, a relational conversation open and available at all times. I don’t think God wants us to just “ring him up” when we need something, leave a message, and then wait impatiently for an answer. No, he is a relational God and there is a permanent open connection to Him for those who believe.
How is your connection to the Holy Spirit?
“And God has given us his Spirit as proof that we live in him and he in us.” 1 John 4:13
