Weekly Reflection – Morning Person

It’s pretty safe to say that I am not really a morning person.

I am not really a night owl either. I am a "sleep for 10 hours" kind of gal. I remember those teenage years where I might squeak out a grunt in the morning before school and you can forget about any kind of conversation. It was a little easier to get by with it as a teenager, but not so much as an adult. I like to call it quiet contemplation now. Often, I will lay in bed for a little while before starting my day, letting my mind wander where it may. I try to think about what God would have me focus on that day. Is my heart in a good place? Do I have a heart of gratitude? Giving myself a little margin in the morning helps me roll into my day a happier camper.
I believe how you start your day and who you start your day with can be key in how the rest of the day is going to look, whether as a morning person, night owl, or something in between. How do you start your day? Do you have a routine that works well for you or can it use an update? Do you say a prayer? Give thanks? Perhaps recite a favorite scripture? I like…“This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” Psalm 118:24. You can’t help but be lifted up.
