Have you ever just had one of those days, or perhaps one of those weeks?

Maybe even one of those years? A time when life catches up and maybe even runs you over. I think I had one of those weeks recently and didn’t handle it as I would have liked. I did what I didn’t want to do and became consumed with “to do’s” and worldly matters. That tends to happen to me when I have impending deadlines. Perhaps you can relate.
Instead of God feeling near and being drawn into his presence, I put my head down and go on my own path. I pray less, praise less, and let my mind wander to immediate worldly concerns. I then get frustrated, overwhelmed, and completely exhausted. You see, I set my mind on the wrong things and my feelings follow suit. I let my emotions get the best of me. So, what do you do when your emotions are out of control? Maybe we can take the magnifying glass away from our current circumstances, step back, reset our mind, and take in the bigger picture. Jesus is bigger than our circumstances. Only when we decide to put our faith and hope in God rather than on the outcome of our worldly pursuits can we find peace.
What is your mind focusing on right now? What are you putting your hope in? Are there any worldly pursuits for yourself or loved ones that you need to release?
Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. Colossians 3:2
