When a streak ends...

Since December of 2020, I had a streak going of sending out a weekly devotional..

It’s been my attempt to connect with the people around me. A way for me to acknowledge the ways God is working in and around me and hopefully encourage others to do the same. The setting has changed from a text to a blog, but the streak continued for over two and a half years until a few weeks ago. I knew the day would come at some point…the day when the streak came to an end. What I didn’t know was how it would make me feel.
It felt a bit anti-climactic to be honest and was kind of a relief. I didn’t feel as bad as I thought I would and even gave myself a little grace. That was a bit of a surprise for me and indicates some growth in my mind. The craziness of life can get in the way gets of good intentions for us all and that’s ok.
It has helped point me back to God and toward his purposes for me. To have faith and trust that the Holy Spirit will continue to lead me. I remind myself that whatever I might do to try to serve God and others is nothing compared to what God has done for me. I am so thankful for that.
His mercies renew every morning and every day presents us with brand new opportunities. Even when a streak comes to an end.
How about you? Have you ever had a streak that came to an end?
How do you reconcile giving yourself grace vs making excuses?
Do find it difficult to move on after disappointment?
Scripture
The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases, his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-23
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD forever. Psalm 23:6
